Meet Megan
The person behind the camera, computer, and Flying M Photography.
Hi, friends—I’m Megan, the owner and person behind Flying M Photography. I’m a photographer, graphic designer, and business owner. Most of all, though, I’m a friend, and I can’t wait to welcome you into my life and learn more about you. But, to start, let me tell you a little more about my life.
It’s a grand adventure—as a kid, I heard my grandfather using that phrase a lot. When he handed me my first camera to take on a trip to Australia, I knew I wouldn’t be able to put it down. My love for photography has grown over the years, and so has my appreciation for the unique stories the world can tell us.
I’m from a small town—and I mean really small—in northeastern Colorado. We often joked that it wasn’t the end of the earth, but you could see it from there. Jokes aside, though, growing up in tiny Briggsdale, I fell in love with rural America, its people, and the stories it can tell. My parents always encouraged my curious nature. My brother was always ready to jump in the pickup at a moment’s notice for the next grand adventure. I spent much of my youth showing livestock and riding horses, activities that, for me, really brought the picture of my purpose into focus. In fact, much of my summers are still spent on the livestock show trail. But now it’s behind the camera (or computer), capturing the joy, lessons, and life of raising and showing livestock through photos, videos, and compelling design.
Nowadays, my grand adventure is based out of southeastern Colorado with the love of my life, Ethan, and our dog, Kate, and cat, Lucy. Bless his heart—he didn’t know the wild ride he was in for when he married me, but, nonetheless, he faithfully encourages me every step of the way. The raw, rugged landscape of southeastern Colorado is often my inspiration for capturing the true nature of the people, families, and livelihoods I have the pleasure of crafting a story for, whether through photography or design.
My grand adventure keeps me on the road most of the time. When I’m home, though, I enjoy spending time with my nose in a good book, learning new skills, and consuming more peanut m&m’s than a normal person should. I can also be found making things with my hands—like leatherwork—because, for me, the best things have blood, sweat, and tears poured into them. Oh, and by the way, I love to laugh way down deep in my gut, because I believe that type of laughter truly heals the soul.
If you are a lover of the joy, grit, and grace that makes up your grand adventure, let’s capture some memories together.
