Our Senior Photo & Portrait Process

Connect with us

Let Flying M Photography ease the burden of your senior pictures and portraits–we’re here as your partner! We’ll first chat about your vision for your portrait photographs–from senior photos to celebration portraits. We’ll nail down a date and begin brainstorming locations, outfits, prop, and even pets.

Select your package

After chatting about your vision, you’ll choose a package. I’ll send you a custom proposal that’s easy to complete from your phone. Once your deposit is received, your date is secured, and the fun begins! Make sure the date we agree on works, as your session can only be rescheduled once within a six-month period.

Select your location

Don’t know where to have your portraits taken? Don’t panic–Megan has seen and done it all! Whether it’s your family’s ranch or the middle of the city, we’ll find the perfect location to suit your style. Portrait and senior photo packages are typically done in one general area, but we can discuss multiple locations if desired.

Select your outfits

Pick outfits that reflect your personality and make you feel comfortable. We recommend an everyday outfit, a slightly elevated outfit, and something unique like a jersey, FFA jacket, or even formal attire. The key is comfort and confidence, so be yourself!

Enjoy picture day

This is our day to create magic together! Expect phrases like “Smile, like you mean it!” and “You might feel a little weird, but I promise it’s going to look awesome.” Megan will hype you up the entire time, ensuring you feel like the best version of yourself by the end of the photoshoot.

Download your photos

Once the magic is captured, I’ll return your gallery promptly. You can download the images as many times as you want, and I’ll provide step-by-step instructions. Share the gallery link with family, and consider ordering prints, cards, or Christmas ornaments at your own pace.

Frequently Asked Questions

For Senior Photos & Portrait Photography

How far ahead should I book my session?

As a rule of thumb, you should book at least six months in advance. However, sooner is always better as our schedule fills up quickly, especially in the summer and fall. For seniors, make sure you’re aware of your yearbook deadline so there’s plenty of time to get your photos.

Will I receive all the rights to my photos?

You will always receive all your personal rights on the photos. This means you can print, post on social media, or even put together your own photo album if you wish. Images may not be altered in any way by the client once a gallery has been delivered without written consent from Flying M Photography. Restricted alterations include but are not limited to, changing the overall image, addition of filters or presets, additional photoshop work, changing the image quality, and cropping the image. If written consent is gained from Flying M Photography, the image(s) in question may be altered within reason and ultimately approved by Flying M Photography. Flying M Photography retains the copyrights of each image to use in promotional social media and print publication.

How do I pay for my session?

Flying M Photography offers the convenience of paying online for your session. Megan will send an invoice for the deposit once you have selected a package. From there we will determine a payment plan suited to your needs, with all payments due prior or on the date of your session.

How many photos will I receive?

This is truly dependent on how willing any subject in a particular shoot is. Typically, Megan will deliver galleries with no less than 80 images, which you can download an unlimited amount of times. Again, 80 images is not a guarantee but is where most galleries end up.

How long before I get my photos?

I pride myself on having quick turn around times on galleries. Portrait sessions can expect a 1-2 week turn around depending on the time of year. You can expect to get wedding photos in 4-6 weeks. If something changes without those timeframes, I will let you know!

Do you offer retouching services?

Megan will retouch minor blemishes (pimples,  small bruises, minor face discoloration due to weather) as a part of the general editing process. You can request additional retouching at a rate of $25 per image. Be aware that we cannot photoshop out everything and still have the image look natural. Some of these things make you unique and that is nothing to be ashamed of.  I CANNOT edit out braces or tan lines.

What happens if weather becomes a factor on the day of our shoot?

Do not fret! We live in Colorado where the weather can change at any moment. I am constantly checking the forecast the week of your shoot, so we know what sort of weather we are working with. If we feel the weather is going to be a problem we have two options.

Reschedule: If we need to reschedule because of weather, we will work together to find the next best option for both of us. The later in the year we get the tighter the dates get, but I do my best to find something that works for everyone. We only allow reschedules once within a 6-month period without incurring another $100 deposit.

Gamble: Sometimes the weather works out for the better and there is nothing to worry about. I am happy to put on more layers of clothes and gamble with the weather conditions. We are not willing to gamble when we’re concerned about the travel safety of any of the parties.
